The Raiders are looking sharp based on their preseason showing thus far. And they have to love what they saw from Jimmy Garoppolo in his debut in Las Vegas uniform, as he went 4/4 for 39 passing yards in a 34-17 victory on the road over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2. Las Vegas is still undefeated in the preseason, as it also defeated the San Francisco 49ers at home in Week 1, 34-7.
The Raiders’ offense is standing out in the preseason and the team hopes to shine on that end of the field again against the Dallas Cowboys, who are third worst in the NFL with 386.0 points allowed per game.
The Raiders have covered the spread against the Niners and the Rams and are 6-0 against the spread in all of their last six preseason games overall.
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (+5)
Preseason record: 0-2
Opposite to the Raiders, Dallas is winless in the preseason, having lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1 at home, 28-23, and to the Seattle Seahawks on the road in Week 2, 22-14. It’s not the end of the world at all for the Cowboys, but they sure would love to score a win to punctuate their preseason experience this year. The Cowboys have also just traded for quarterback Trey Lance, but it’s not likely he’d suit up for this game.
Nevertheless, Dallas still has Will Grier and Cooper Rush to split the chores under center. The Cowboys’ offensive line will have to be better, though, after it allowed four sacks in the Seahawks game.
The Cowboys are 2-2 against the spread in their last four preseason games.
