Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (-1)
Regular season record: 6-4
The Steelers failed to win their third win in a row last Sunday when they fell prey to the Cleveland Browns on the road, 13-10. It was an ugly day for Pittsburgh’s offense that generated just 249 total yards and went only 3/14 on third downs. Pittsburgh also only had 12 first downs.
However, that shouldn’t shadow entirely the performance of running back Jaylen Warren, who might already be the best in his position among Steelers players. Warren led the Steelers in the Browns game with 129 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries and also had three catches for 16 receiving yards on three targets. There should be more breathing room for the Steelers’ offense in Week 12 against the Bengals, who are third-worst in the league with 386.1 total yards allowed per game. Also, the Steelers’ defense will look to capitalize on the Joe Burrow-less Cincinnati attack.
Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals (+1)
Regular season record: 5-5
The big news out of Cincy is that Joe Burrow is done for the rest of the season due to an injury he suffered in Week 1’1’s 34-20 road loss to the Baltimore Ravens. With Burrow sidelined for the remainder of the campaign, the Bengals will be turning to former Washington Huskies star Jake Browning to run the offense from under center.
Browning has appeared in two games this season, going 8/15 for 68 passing yards and a touchdown and three sacks absorbed. Burrow’s injury also likely will get Cincinnati’s ground attack more touches. That means more work for running back Joe Mixon, who leads the Bengals this season with 605 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 153 carries. He could have a big game in Week 12 opposite the Steelers’ run defense that is just 23rd in the NFL with 127.7 rushing yards allower per contest.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals
It’s hard to project how the Bengals’ offense will exactly run with Browning under center, but it probably wouldn’t take a Tom Brady for Cincinnati to outshine the Steelers’ offense either. The Bengals shock the Steelers here.
Prediction:
The Bengals win, 19-16.
