Betting on the Houston Texans
- Regular Season Record: 1-3-1
- BetMGM Spread: +7.0
- Moneyline: (+240)
- Over/Under: 45.5
The Texans went into halftime with a rare win over the Jaguars and return looking for a second win to pull them out of the bottom of the AFC South.
However, Houston will not have it so easy in Sunday’s game considering that they are the team that has scored the fewest points in the season (86), although they have one game less than their closest team in the standings. The offense led by David Mills also ranks near the bottom in average yards per game and total yards, but has held its own in engagements by being one of the lowest in fumbles lost with only 5.
Defensively, the Texans have also shown inconsistencies, ranking 10th in yards allowed per play (5.8) and 12th in net yards per pass (6.4). The key to keeping games close has been their efficiency in the red zone, as they have been hit 18 times and scored just seven times for 38.9%, fourth best in the league.
Betting on the Las Vegas Raiders
- Regular Season record: 1-4
- BetMGM Spread: -7.0
- Moneyline: (-303)
- Over/Under: 45.5
If the Raiders want to get out of the bottom of the AFC West, there is no better time than to return from their vacation and take on the Texans, theoretically one of the weakest teams on their schedule.
Despite having a great game against the Chiefs, the Las Vegas team again squandered a 10-point lead in the second half. This is largely due to the fact that not only are they the sixth-highest team allowing the most yards per punt (6.9), but they have barely recovered three ovoids and are one of the worst teams in the circuit defending in the red zone by allowing TDs in 14 out of the 17 times opponents have stepped on their 20-yard line.
Therefore, it has been of no use scoring more than 22 points in 4 out of 5 games this season, including 32 and 29 in their last two games. Derek Carr and company have improved in performance over the past few weeks by ranking 3rd in average ground yards (5.3) and 9th in total yards (5.8), although there is still a lack of consistency between offense and defense in a single game.
JefeBet Prediction
It is true that the Raiders have not been reliable this season, but after a bye week, they should come in with everything they need to roll over a Houston team that has lost by seven points in two of its three losses.
The Texans have managed to keep close games, but now they must visit a Las Vegas team that was built to compete for the postseason and that seems to be adapting to the system of their new head coach, Josh McDaniels, as the weeks go by.
Prediction: Raiders Spread (TEX 17 – LV 27).
