Betting on the Vegas Golden Knights
- Regular Season Record: 0-0
- BetMGM Puck line: (+1.5 / -250).
- Moneyline: (-105).
- Over/Under: 6
The Golden Knights begin this campaign hopeful not only because of the arrival of Bruce Cassidy as their new head coach, but also because their roster is practically recovered from the plague of injuries they experienced last season.
Mark Stone and Jack Eichel will start the season from day one, while Phil Kessel, who had 52 points with the Coyotes last year, arrived this preseason to bolster an offense that averaged 3.20 goals per game.
Center Jonathan Marchessault and Chandler Stephenson are also back, although Max Pacioretty was traded to open up salary cap. As far as goalkeeping is concerned, this may be the team’s weak point after Robin Lehner suffered a waist injury that will keep him out for the entire season. Logan Thompson will take over the position with Aidan Hill as second in command.
Betting on the Los Angeles Kings
- Regular Season Record: 0-0
- BetMGM Puck line: (-1.5 / +200)
- Moneyline: (-115)
- Over/Under: 6
The Kings were left with a bad taste in their mouths after being eliminated by the Oilers in a series they could have won, and in this season that begins at home, projections point to a return to the postseason being more than possible.
Los Angeles made one of the biggest preseason moves by upgrading its offense with the arrival of Kevin Fiala, who scored 33 goals and 85 points for the Wild last campaign. The Kings averaged just 2.83 goals per game with Anze Kopitar, their captain, being the best scorer with 19 goals and 48 assists.
Defensively, the Kings were one of the most reliable on the circuit last year, with a powerful blend of experience and youth that is being maintained for this season. For his part, the experienced Jonathan Quick will be back in goal after returning from injury in a big way.
JefeBet Prediction
The Golden Knights offense got the job done last year and with several healthy pieces, and, plus the arrival of Phil Kessel in the Pacific Conference, they should be very wary of them. On the Kings’ side, Kevin Fiala became one of the best moves on the market and will immediately inject offense into the franchise.
The presence of Logan Thompson in goal for Vegas may represent early goals for Fiala, while even with the presence of Jonathan Quick, it seems unlikely to stop the Golden Knights offense.
Prediction: Over (LV 4 – LA 3).
