- The first champion of this prestigious tournament was Jack Nicklaus. It was in 1974 and the prize to be distributed was $250 thousand dollars, of which the champion took $50 thousand dollars home. Golden Bear himself is the tournament’s top winner with three victories.
- The course record is -24 under par, and it was Greg Norman who won that year. He only took home $450,000 as the winner out of a purse of $2,500,000,000.
- The youngest winner of the Players Championship was Kim Si Woo when he won it in 2017. In that edition, the prize to be distributed was $10.5 million, and the Korean took home $1,890,000 dollars home.
