Interesting Facts and Trivia about the 2023 3M Open
- The first edition of the 3M Open was staged in 2019. That year, Matthew Wolf topped the event by firing a 21-under 263 to edge runner-ups Bryson DeChambeau and Collin Morikawa by just a stroke to also win the $1.152 million prize.
- The purse in the first-ever 3M Open in 2019 was at $6.4 million. It was raised to $6.6 million in 2020 and stayed the same in 2021. In 2022, it got a major boost, putting the total payout at $7.5 million.
- One-time major winner Justin Thomas is going to participate in the 3M Open for the first time ever. “Justin certainly brings another element to a tournament when he plays, and we are grateful he will be joining us this year, ”3M Open Tournament Director Mike Welch said of Thomas’ participation.
- No player has yet to win the 3M Open multiple times, which is not surprising given the fact that it’s only started in 2019.
