Notes about the Experts’ Analysis for 2023 BMW Championship
- For Rob Bolton of PGATour.com, Rory McIlroy is the top dog among the field this week in Illinois: “Cobbled together a T12 at the BMW Championship in 2020, but that’d be a massive disappointment in his return given that he’s hung up eight consecutive top 10s since the PGA Championship. Second on TOUR in adjusted scoring.” McIlroy, a 24-time winner in the PGA Tour, had a strong T3 last week in the FedEx St. Jude Championship That gave him his 11th top 10 of the season overall and third straight T6 or better finish.
- Over at CBS Sports, the staff there thinks that Rickie Fowler is going to impress this week. Fowler is having a solid season, as he’s got eight top 10s and 16 top 25s while making all but two cuts in 23 events started.
- Meanwhile, Andy Lack of Golf Monthly envisions Scottie Scheffler winning the 2023 BMW Championship. “Scheffler’s elite around the green play will be far more prevalent this week on a course which such a low greens in regulation percentage,” wrote Lack.
- Jason Sobel of the Action Network is picking Patrick Cantlay to win this week – again. Cantlay has won each of the last two editions of the BMW Championship, first at Caves Valley in 2021 and then at Wilmington Country Club in 2022. Cantlay is 17/19 this season with nine top 10s and 14 top 25s. He has zero wins thus far but has a pair of runner-up finishes.
