The first major of the year is here! The Masters Tournament 2023 is the most prestigious and traditional tournament on the PGA Tour. Only the best players will be able to take on the challenging Augusta Georgia course, which is one of the most difficult in the world due to its carefully manicured design.
Participating in The Masters Tournament is not for everyone – you have to earn the right to play in the championship or receive an invitation to be there this weekend. This speaks to how important it is to be in Augusta.
The tournament will be played at Augusta National Golf Club, one of the oldest on the Tour. It has been in the same location for 90 years, with the same complex design. Originally a nursery, each hole is named after a plant that was cared for there. Besides, the course is meticulously maintained and polished to perfection – it’s a true luxury.
The winner is awarded the famous green jacket, which has become an icon of the golf world and its traditions. The Masters Tournament is golf in its purest form, and this weekend’s tournament in Georgia is a must-see event.
This year’s edition will have a special ingredient. As we know, LIV Golf players are banned from all PGA events, but Augusta marches to its own beat, and has allowed Arab golfers to enter, provided they meet the requirements.
This means that the 2020 Masters champion, and one of the best golfers in the world, Dustin Johnson, will be on the course. This significantly raises the level of the tournament, with all the top players in attendance. Without further ado, at JefeBet, we’ve listed the favorites for the first major of the year. Don’t miss out on the excitement!
Predictions, Odds, and Betting Previews for the Masters Tournament PGA Tour Event to be Held on April 6–9 2023
- Where: Augusta National Golf Club – Augusta, Georgia
- When: Thursday, April 6 – Sunday, April 9, 2023.
Favorites
Scottie Scheffler (Odds +700 at DraftKings)
Being the defending champion and world number one, Scottie is in a spectacular moment. He has two victories this season, winning the Phoenix Open and The Players with authority. He finished second in the Hero World Challenge. Besides, in the WGC Match Play he finished fourth. So he is now the rival to beat in the PGA Tour.
He is going for a two-time championship, something that has not happened since Tiger Woods achieved it in 2005 and 2006. If he gets his third victory this season, he will be consecrated as the best golfer today, and what better way to do it than at Augusta.
Rory Mcllroy (Odds +700 at DraftKings)
Rory and The Masters. This is the only title he lacks to complete the Grand Slam. He has tried to, but failed. Last year, he came within three strokes of taking the green bag, but had a couple of major mistakes that Scheffler did not miss.
This season, he has only won the CJ Cup, finishing second in the Arnold Palmer. What’s more, he did not do well at The Players, missing the cut, but in the WGC Match Play he finished third. If the more competitive Rory arrives, it is possible that he can complete his Grand Slam. However, if he goes out in inconsistent mode, he will have to wait another year. Which Rory will we meet?
Jon Rahm (Odds +900 at DraftKings)
He could be the fourth Spaniard to wear the green jacket, after Seve Ballesteros, José María Olazabal, and Sergio García (who will also be on the Augusta course). Rahm has also been playing well, but had a small drop in performance. Even so, when connected, this golfer is practically invincible.
He has already won three tournaments this season (Sentry Tournament, The American Express, and the Genesis Open). However, after this last victory, he finished 39th in the Arnold Palmer, and in The Players he withdrew due to illness. Finally, in the WGC Match Play, he finished 39th, still not physically at 100%. After a week’s rest, it seems that, for Augusta, he will arrive with his batteries recharged.
Sleeper Picks
Tiger Woods (Odds +7000 at DraftKings)
It is impossible to leave Tiger out of this list. He is a gold legend, and has been training at Augusta for a week in preparation for this tournament. Just to remember, in 2019, nobody gave anything for the golfer who came back after a long semi-retirement, and won his 5th green jacket. This is his tournament, and he knows the course like the back of his hand.
If he wins this Masters, he would become the highest winner of the tournament, surpassing Jack Nicklaus (who also has 5 wins), and he would also become the 83rd victory of his career. With it, he would stand alone as the all-time leading winner, surpassing Sam Snead.
Dustin Johnson (Odds +2200 at DraftKings)
The 2020 champion and PGA Tour vetoed champion could make a big splash by capturing another Augusta title. He has not been able to play in any tour event this year, but in LIV he has been dominant and at a good level. It will be very interesting to see him play and measure himself again in the PGA.
Dark Horse
Max Homa (Odds +2500 at DraftKings)
Since his victory at Farmers Insurance, the golfer has looked good. In The Players, he finished sixth with two very good last rounds. He confirmed his good level in the WGC Match Play, where he finished ninth. Therefore, it can surprise everyone if it plays intelligently in a field that does not forgive even the slightest mistake.
JefeBet Prediction
It’s difficult to predict the outcome, considering the course and the stories that are being presented at Augusta. We would love nothing more than to see Tiger win to become the biggest winner in history, but at JefeBet, we believe that Rory Mcllroy will complete his Grand Slam and get rid of last year’s thorn.
