Scottie Scheffler (+650 on DraftKings)
Scheffler is an automatic favorite in any tournament he joins for as long as he sustains his current form. Although it’s been a while since he last won a start, which was at THE PLAYERS Championship last March, he’s still on quite a run. Since that victory, Scheffler has racked up nine made cuts, netting seven top 5s over that stretch. The other non-top 5s? A T10 at the 2023 Masters Tournament and a T11 at the 2023 RBC Heritage.
Rory McIlroy (+750 on DraftKings)
McIlroy is another high-profile player who is on a roll of late despite the absence of a win. The Northern Irishman is coming off a T7 at the 2023 Travelers Championship, which extended his streak of top 10s to five starts. McIlroy already has a win this season, but that he got that way back in October at THE CJ CUP in South Carolina. He is due for success, and that could finally come again for him this week in Europe.
Patrick Cantlay (+1200 on DraftKings)
Cantlay is looking for his first win of the season still, but don’t let his lack of victories fool you into thinking he’s someone who shouldn’t be given attention. For one, this man is nearly perfect this season in terms of cuts made, going 15/16 after a T4 at the 2023 Travelers Championship late last June. He also has eight top 10s and 13 top 25s. The eight-time Tour winner is No. 1 in the PGA TOUR season thus far in birdie average, total driving, and success rate when going for the green.
Sleeper Picks
Shane Lowry (+3000 on DraftKings)
Lowry will be making his Renaissance Club debut at the 2023 Scottish Open, but even with zero experience playing there, he could make loud noises this week. The two-time PGA Tour winner is 13/15 this season with eight top 25s, including a T5 at The Honda Classic last February. Lowry is also fresh off back-to-back top 20s with a T20 at the US Open and T19 at the Travelers Championship.
Justin Thomas (+4000 on DraftKings)
Thomas is a two-time major winner, but that’s hard to tell based on his recent performances. He’s gone 1/3 in his last four starts after missing the cut at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic. However, people still know how big of an upside there is always with Thomas, who may not be playing at his best of late but certainly is one of the best golfers of his generation.
Dark Horse
Billy Horschel (+30000 on DraftKings)
After missing the cut at the Travelers Championship last June, Horschel dropped to just 10/18 this season. However, he’s got two top 10s and three top 25s. In his only career start at The Renaissance Club, Horschel got cut after firing 75 and 70 in the first and second rounds, respectively, of the 2022 Scottish Open.
