What’s not like about McIlroy’s chances to finally end his Grand Slam drought this week? McIlroy has momentum and winning pedigree at The Open Championship. He is coming off a win at the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open and has placed inside the top 10 in all of his last six starts. And of course, he’s won The Open Championship before at the same course where it will be held again this year. The Northern Irishman won The Open Championship in 2014 with a 17-under 271 at Royal Liverpool back in 2014.
Scottie Scheffler (+700 on DraftKings)
Scheffler is still a top golfer to watch out for, as he extended his top-five streak to seven starts with a T3 at the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open. On the season, Scheffler is a perfect 19/19 with two wins and 15 top 10s. He also has 18 top 25s. That’s an incredible body of work for the No. 1 ranked player in the world who had a T8 at Royal St. George during his The Open debut in 2021 and a T21 in 2022 at St. Andrews.
Jon Rahm (+1200 on DraftKings)
The Spaniard has been a bit erratic with his results since he topped the field at the 2023 Masters Tournament. Over Rahm’s last six starts, he’s gone 5/6 with two top 10s and four top 25s. He is also coming off a missed cut in his most recent start, which was at the 2023 Travelers Championship late last June. Nevertheless, there is no denying that Rahm is an elite performer whose best finish at The Open was a T3 in 2021 at Royal St. Georgie.

Wyndham Clark (+4500 on DraftKings)
Who knows if Clark still has it. Since he won the 2023 US Open, Clark has posted just a T29 at the Travelers Championship and a T25 at the Genesis Scottish Open. However, he also has two wins this season and seven top 10s. His only appearance so far at The Open Championship was at St. Andrews in 2022 in which he finished just tied for 76th place. That said, Clark must be feeling better about his chances this time around to make noise at The Open, given his recent success.
Hideki Matsuyama (+8000 on DraftKings)
You can say that Matsuyama is having a disappointing season, as he’s slid down to just 31st overall in the OWGR. Still, he is 17/20 with two top 10s and nine top 25s. He’s made the cut in all three past Grand Slam tournaments, including a T16 at the Masters. Matsuyama is 5/8 in his The Open career, with his best finish being a T6 at Muirfield in 2013. He finished with a T39 the following year at Royal Liverpool.

Seamus Power (+25000 on DraftKings)
Power’s status for The Open Championship will have to be monitored closely after he withdrew from the Genesis Scottish Open with a hip issue. The 36-year-old Power is 16/23 this season with three top 10s, including a win at the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship. He is 25th overall this season in SG: Putting (0.471).
