The arrival of Doug Pederson should help the Jaguars play much better this season, even if that doesn’t mean their performance will point to anything too spectacular. An example of this is what we have seen so far in the preseason.
Despite playing the first series with several of their starters, Jacksonville struggled to finish off the Steelers by missing a field goal and losing several downs at important times. This is something they should improve against a weaker defense like the Falcons’.
Trevor Lawrence continues to see action and should have his last test against Atlanta before getting another chance as the team’s starting quarterback.

Despite getting off to a winning start against the Jets, the Falcons defense once again showed problems and ended up losing by allowing 24 points to a team that played without the injured Zach Wilson.
After scoring 16 points in the first half, Atlanta came up empty in the second half, demonstrating the inconsistency that is so often predicted from this team for the upcoming NFL season. That lack of consistency was also seen on the defensive line, as after allowing three points in the first two quarters, they conceded 21 in the last two.
Their final litmus test will be against the Jaguars before embarking on a season that does not look promising for a squad that appears to be on the verge of major reorganization.
