There are hopeful news for the Golden State Warriors ahead of the 2022/23 NBA season. James Wiseman has shown a clear improvement in his recovery and is expected to join the Summer League next month, according to a report by journalist Shams Charania from The Athletic.

Let’s remember that the young center underwent minor surgery last December to cure the swelling in his right knee, an intervention that left Wiseman out of action for the rest of the season

As told by reporter Anthony Slater, the lanky 21-year-old was treated in London with a Platelet-Rich plasma (PRP) injection that has been key in his improvements, which have him projected to be part of coach Steve Kerr’s rotation when he starts the regular round next season.

In this way, the second general pick of the 2020 NBA Draft is expected to be part of an event in California (July 2 and 3), in addition to that of Las Vegas, which will take place from July 7 to July 17.

After being a star in the NCAA with the Memphis Tigers, this player’s success in professional basketball has been severely hindered by physical issues. Luckily for him, though, the Warriors remain optimistic that their young winger could end up taking the starting center job.

Despite Wiseman’s absence, the Golden State Warriors finished the regular round in third place in the Western Conference with a 53-29 record, and are currently playing in the 2022 NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.

James Wiseman’s numbers in the NBA

In 39 appearances in the NBA, the center averages 11.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game. In addition, he registers 51.9% in field goals and 31.6% in three-point shots. However, his career has also been marked by the constant physical problems he has had to deal with.

Regarding the financial part, Wiseman will have a salary of 9.6 million dollars in the 2022/23 NBA season, after signing a four-year deal worth $39.6 million.

We are talking about a future star who has so far not met the expectations generated in the franchise led by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
