Jayson Tatum Criticizes Joel Embiid’s Exclusion From All-NBA First Team

Boston Celtics star player Jayson Tatum was one of those who reacted to Joel Embiid‘s exclusion from the All-NBA First Team, despite finishing second in voting for the 2021/22 MVP award.

“I do think it should be positionless,” Tatum said of the list of players selected to the league’s three all-star teams, according to a report by The Athletic journalist Joe Vardon.

The 24-year-old forward added: “Joel Embiid was second in MVP voting and he made second team? It doesn’t really make too much sense.”

The All NBA first team for the 2021/22 season was made up of: Nikola Jokić, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, and Luka Dončić.

However, not everything was critical of Tatum, as he proposed a fairer format: “I think it should be like the top 15 players,” he suggested.

For the former member of Duke University, the NBA must take into account the number of games in the regular round and the position in which his team finished in the regular round.

With the equation that Tatum poses when putting together the All NBA teams, the appearance of LeBron James, since he was barely able to register 56 appearances with a Lakers that staged a disappointing campaign, finishing in 11th position in the Western Conference, with a record of 33 wins and 49 losses.

The man born in San Luis closed the regular round averaging per game: 26.9 points, 8 rebounds and 4.4 assists. Additionally, he recorded 45.3% shooting from the field and 35.3% shooting from three points.
