The Los Angeles Lakers are not getting back on their feet in the final stretch of the 2021-22 NBA regular season, and on Friday, April 1, they suffered another loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, this time by a score of 114-111.
The return of LeBron James and Anthony Davis was not enough for the team coached by Frank Vogel to give a blow of authority against its direct rival in the Western Conference.
Despite the loss that keeps the Lakers out of any chance of playing in the playoffs, LeBron’s work stands out as he recorded a brilliant line of 38 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Davis finished with a double-double of 23 units and 12 rebounds.
For his part, Russell Westbrook was once again inaccurate in his shooting, hitting just 5 of 15 shots for a total of 12 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.
On the Pelicans’ side, CJ McCollum exploded with a superb 32-unit, 7-rebound effort, going 4-for-8 from three-point range.
After this result, the Lakers are in 11th place in the Western Conference with a record of 31 wins and 46 losses.
LeBron James’ Numbers with Lakers in the 2021-22 NBA Season
The 37-year-old star is having such a good season that he could even receive votes for MVP, an award that in theory should be won by Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers or Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.
In the 2021-22 NBA season, James averaged 30.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists on 52.3% shooting from the field and 35.9% three-point shooting.
Despite a superb campaign from the man born in Akron, Ohio, the Lakers are posting one of the most disappointing campaigns in NBA history.
