Last season’s finalists have quickly put last season’s slow start to the season behind them with two consecutive wins that have them with an even record. Good news before the start of a three-game tour that begins with a match against the Kings and continues with matches against the Ducks and Sharks, all teams with negative records.
In their last game, Tampa Bay Lightning made the most of their opportunities by scoring five goals on just 26 shots against New York. Tampa Bay also took a 1-2 lead from the first period and would never lose it again.
In goal, Brian Elliott earned his first win in two starts by having a big night, stopping 33 of 36 shots taken by the Islanders.
Betting on the Los Angeles Kings
- Regular Season Record: 3-4-0
- BetMGM Puck line: (+1.5, -250)
- Moneyline: (+100)
- Over/Under: 6.5
Just when it looked like the Kings were putting aside a slow start to the season with three wins in a row, Los Angeles’ defense once again hit the skids, and they return home with two straight losses.
In their five-game road trip, they finished with a 3-2 record after losing the last two games to the Penguins (1-6) and Capitals, the latter with a 3-4 score after entering the third period leading by two goals.
In only one game this season have the Kings allowed fewer than four goals, which is worrisome considering that the key to last year’s postseason run was having one of the best defenses in the league.
Jonathan Quick did his best, saving 28 of 32 shots, but his defense continues to give opponents too much freedom –something not positive at all before facing a good team like Tampa Bay.
JefeBet Prediction
Tuesday night’s Lightning vs Kings will be a high-scoring game, not so much because of the Kings’ offense, but because of what the Lightning can do against the home team’s weak defense.
In the last four meetings in Los Angeles between these two, the Over has a 3-0-1 record, while in the last nine meetings overall, the Over has a 6-1-2 record. Any favorites? Tampa Bay has won 11 of the last 12 meetings with the Kings, and the favorite has a 7-0 record in the last seven meetings.
Prediction: Over (TB 5 – LA 3).
