To begin with, the All-Star Game teams are made up of 32 players, who are selected according to different criteria:
- Fan voting: online voting is available to select the baseball players who will open the game.
- Player voting: pitchers and a substitute are selected by other baseball players.
- Manager’s selection (2 rounds): the manager and the Commissioner’s Office make a selection of 31 players who go through a second round of screening in case any player is unable to attend.
- Final vote: after 31 players have been selected, fans choose an additional player from a list provided by the manager and the Commissioner’s Office.
