When it comes to cheering or criticizing the performance of their individual teams, Italian soccer fans are recognized for their passion. However, in the last few hours everything reached a whole new level in the SSC Napoli, when a group of people hijacked the car of the club’s coach, Luciano Spalletti.

The most incredible part of this event came later, as the criminals dared to post a huge banner outside the Diego Armando Maradona stadium with the following message: “16-10-21: Spalletti, we’ll give you back your Panda… as long as you leave!”.

After it was determined that the team will not meet its goals for the 2021/22 European soccer season, a group of Neapolitan fans took this extreme, criminal action. With two games remaining in Serie A, the Celeste team are in third place and out of any chance of winning the Scudetto.

As for the club’s performance in international competitions, it was eliminated by Barcelona in the round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League.

There are no further details about Spalletti’s plan of action facing this unusual event, but it is definitely a clear sign that his presence in Napoli puts him and his family in danger, so he should make the decision to leave the institution for the next season of Italian football.

What is Luciano Spalletti’s contract like at SSC Napoli?

The 63-year-old Italian coach is under contract with Napoli until June 2023. In other words, he has yet to manage a season with the team in which the talented Mexican Hirving “Chucky” Lozano plays.

Spalletti earns a yearly salary of 3 million euros for his work with the team that rose to international fame during Diego Armando Maradona’s illustrious career in the 1980s. It is important to add that the Napoli coach is the third highest paid in Serie A, only behind his colleagues at Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan.
