Matchday 8 of the Apertura 2022 in Liga MX will feature all 18 teams, so the lineup for this date will have nine matches, starting on Thursday, August 11 and ending on Sunday, August 14.

There will be one game on Thursday, two on Friday, four on Saturday and two on Sunday. Last weekend, the goals finally came back, and we hope that this Matchday 8 will also provide us with good entertainment and a great number of goals.

This matchday will mark the end of the first half of the Apertura 2022, so the teams will have to get their act together in search of the positions that will allow them to advance to the Liguilla.

We expect a lot of emotions in the nine matches, especially considering that there will be two derbys. Maybe your busy schedule doesn’t allow you to watch them all, so here at JefeBet we made the list of the matches to follow, and we also added the predictions.

Predictions for Matchday 8 Matches – Liga MX Apertura 2022

Pumas vs. América

Matches to watch in Liga MX Matchday 8 – Pumas vs. América

Pumas did not play in the Mexican league last weekend, but they will be trying to keep their perfect record, since they are the only team in the tournament that has not lost. They have one win and five draws and come into this match with three consecutive draws, the last of which were 1-1.

América will be motivated after their second win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Juárez. This result allowed them to climb a few places in the general classification, as they now have two wins, one draw and three losses.

This match will be played on Saturday, August 13 at 5:05 p.m. (Pacific time) at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario. The Águilas have lost all three of their away games, but they come here on the back of a win; considering that the university side drew their last two home games, a draw would not surprise us.

Prediction: Tie.

Guadalajara vs. Atlas

Matches to follow in Liga MX Matchday 8 – Guadalajara vs. Atlas

Guadalajara is one of the two teams that have yet to taste victory so far in the Apertura 2022, with only five draws and two defeats. In their most recent game, they lost 2-1 to Mazatlán, relegating them to second-to-last place in the overall standings.

Two-time champions Atlas returned to winning ways after three consecutive defeats with a 3-1 victory over Querétaro last weekend. Their inconsistency has worried those around them, but a win ahead of the Clasico Tapatío could be encouraging.

This match will be played on Saturday, August 13 at 7:05 p.m. (Pacific time) at the Akron Stadium. Neither Chivas has won at home, nor Atlas has won away, so they are likely to split points on Matchday 8.

Prediction: Tie.

Cruz Azul vs. Toluca

Matches to watch Liga MX Matchday 8 - Cruz Azul vs. Toluca

Cruz Azul has not been able to find a balance so far this season, and so far has two wins, two draws and three defeats. The team’s poor defensive performance has caused it the most problems, as it is currently the third defense with the most goals conceded (13). To make matters worse, they are coming off a 4-0 drubbing against Santos.

Toluca has been doing well and will be looking for more success in this match. They have five wins, two draws and just one loss in eight games played, and they come into this match on a five-game unbeaten streak. Those numbers have the team as the overall leader, and it will need three points here in order to maintain that position.

This match will be played on Sunday, August 14 at 3:00 p.m. (Pacific time) at the Estadio Azteca. Toluca is the second-best away team in the Apertura, having won 50% of their games on rival territory, so they should be expected to come out on top.

Prediction: Toluca wins.

Tigres vs. Santos

Matches to watch in Liga MX Matchday 8 - Tigres vs Santos

Tigres suffered a setback on the last date when they lost 2-0 to Pachuca. This cut short their streak of five consecutive victories, and they lost the first position in the general classification. However, this is only their second loss of the season and they have not recorded consecutive defeats.

Santos Laguna seems to have found the winning formula as they have won their last two matches, and more importantly, in both they managed to keep a clean sheet: something they had not done in their previous matches.

This match will be played on Sunday, August 14 at 5:05 p.m. (Pacific time) at the Estadio Universitario. Santos has lost both of its games played on rival territory, and given that it will face a squad that has won its past three home games, three points are unlikely.

Prediction: Tigres win.
