Miles Bridges‘ future appears to be away from the Charlotte Hornets, a team he defended in his first four seasons in the NBA.
According to a report by Shams Charania, from The Athletic, the organization would be analyzing whether to pay the price that some teams will surely offer the power forward during the preseason.
It is worth remembering that Bridges is a restricted free agent, so the Hornets have the
possibility of matching any offer that another organization makes to acquire the player’s services.
Several reports indicated at the time that Charlotte offered him a four-year, $60 million contract last season, a figure that Miles Bridges turned down as he looked for more.
This move appears to have gone well for the player, as at 24 years old and with a bright career ahead of him, Bridges would be asking for a maximum contract of roughly $30 million each season.
Several Teams Are Interested on Miles Bridges
Charlotte will have stiff competition for Miles Bridges, with the Detroit Pistons, Portland Trail Blazers, and Indiana Pacers also in the mix.
These three teams appear to be willing to meet Bridges’ requirements, as he was one of the team’s best players last season, being considered for the Most Improved Player award and the All-Star game.
However, Charlotte appears to have the upper hand in the negotiations; Bridges admitted on the Charlotte Sports Live program that his goal was to stay in the organization and that if that meant receiving a little less money, he would be fine with it.
In 80 games played with the Hornets, he averaged 20.2 points per game, with 7.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, a 49.1 field goal percentage and also shot 33.1% from long range.
