On Tuesday, June 14, day of the Major Leagues, there was a high-tension moment in the game between the two Los Angeles teams, Angels vs. Dodgers.
When the top part of the ninth inning was being played at Dodger Stadium, with the local team winning by a score of two runs to zero, a part of the broken bat of Mike Trout ended up impacting chief umpire Nate Tomlinson, who had to leave the game with blood on his face.

The inconvenience caused the game to be stopped for several minutes. Later, another umpire was tasked with taking control of the clash and bringing the game to a close. Veteran Craig Kimbrel got the remaining two outs to seal the victory for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are now in first place in the National League West Division, with a record of 38 wins and 23 losses.
Tomlinson was injured in the face at eye level and will likely undergo a series of tests before determining when his next appearance in the Major League fields will be.
This chilling action shows that the umpires certainly expose themselves, despite being protected with a mask and chest protector. Luckily, on this occasion the situation was only a logical scare, but the league should definitely implement a series of measures that guarantee greater security for all those involved in an MLB game.
Another MLB Umpire Hit in the 2022 Season
This is not the first time that a main umpire has ended up on the floor during the 2022 Major League Baseball season.
During the May 15 game between the Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics, umpire Marty Foster had to leave the field of RingCentral Coliseum after being hit in the mask in consecutive innings.
The most curious thing about all this is that the Angels were again involved in a tense situation of this type.
