The MLS Week 22 team is made up of the 11 players who had outstanding performances in their matches over the weekend. The league recognizes them after each date, highlighting their actions.
It is not easy to make the selection because the level of the players increases weekly, and the competition is tougher. However, a select group of players in the different positions manage to do an almost perfect job, and they are the ones who are included in the ideal team.

Midfielder: Xherdan Shaqiri
Switzerland’s Xherdan Shaqiri, who arrived as the bombshell signing for the Chicago Fire this season, was one of the team’s best players in the 1-3 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps, chipping in with a goal and an assist.
Midfielder: Dru Yearwood
New York Red Bulls midfielder Dru Yearwood returned to the starting lineup after six games and made the most of his minutes on the field, as he scored a goal and added an assist as his team defeated Austin FC 3-4.
Midfielder: Bongokuhle Hlongwane
The South African midfielder is part of this MLS Week 22 team for his great performance in Minnesota United‘s 1-2 win over Houston Dynamo: he was involved in both of his team’s goals, with a goal to his name and an assist.
Forward: Cristian Arango
Colombian striker Cristian Arango is going through a dream moment in MLS. He has three consecutive scoring games for LAFC, and in this 2-0 win over Sporting Kansas City, he scored a goal and provided an assist.
Forward: Romell Quioto
Honduran Romell Quioto appears in this team of the week as one of the strikers who had success over the weekend. The player was on the field for 73 minutes and scored both goals in CF Montreal’s 1-2 win over D.C. United.
