Sandhagen is going for her third win in a row. In his most recent bout, Sandhagen defeated Marlon Vera in the main event of a UFC Fight Night last March via split decision. Prior to that, Sandhagen beat Song Yadong via TKO (doctor’s stoppage). The fighter out of Elevation Fight Team has lost three times in the UFC, but all were at the hands of either former champions or current belt-holders in the premier MMA promotion in the world.  Those were against Petr Yan, TJ Dillashaw, and Alhamain Sterling.

The 31-year-old Sandhagen has seven wins via knockouts. He’s never been knocked out plus he’s also got six first-round finishes, which includes his sensational flying knee knockout against former champion Frankie Edgar back in 2021 that also earned Sandhagen Performance of the Night honors.

Betting on Rob Font (+245 on DraftKings)

Font is looking to make the most out of this golden opportunity to turn more heads in the UFC. Ranked seventh in the bantamweight division,  Font is fresh off a knockout victory over Adrian Yanez in last April’s UFC 287: Pereira vs. Adesanya 2. That stopped his two-fight losing streak and got him back on track in his mission to score his first-ever title fight down the road.

Font was also originally slated to fight Song Yadong in UFC 292 but the latter backed out for undisclosed reasons. While a spot in UFC 292 would have been nice, a main event his coming Saturday isn’t too shabby either for Font, who is dangerous with his limbs. Font has a 9-0 TKO record but also has a 4-1 submission record. He has nine first-round finishes, including one against former title challenger Marlon Moraes in 2020.

El Jefe’s Prediction on Cory Sandhagen vs Rob Font

The late replacement of opponent might have thrown off Sandhagen, but he’ll eventually find his groove in this fight and shine in more moments than Font. Taking Sandhagen to win this via unanimous decision.

Prediction:

Sandhagen wins via decision.
