Poirier recovered from his loss to Charles Oliviera in a title fight back in 2021 by submitting Michael Chandler via a beautiful rear-naked choke in last November’s main card of UFC 281: Adesanya vs. Pereira. The 34-year-old Poirier has now won four of his last five fights, which also includes wins against Conor McGregor (twice) and Dan Hooker.
With 15 wins via knockouts, it’s clear that Poirier can be pretty devastating with his limbs, which Gaethje definitely knows. After all, Poirier scored a TKO win in the fourth round and earned him Fight of the Night honors in that 2018 UFC Fight Night event. Apart from his knockouts, Poirier also has six wins via submissions and also 13 first-round finishes.

Getting a fight against Poirier gives Gaethje a golden opportunity to level his score with “The Diamond,” which is already more than enough motivation for him to win this Saturday’s showdown.
