One thing about Rountree is that he looks in form for this fight. That can be easy to tell from the fact that he has won all of his last three fights. He defeated Modestas Bukauskas and Karl Roberson via knockout in 2021 (UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Till) before scoring yet another knockout win against Karl Roberson a fight later during UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Ankalaev.
That win against Roberson earned Rountree a Performance of the Night performance. Then he followed that up with a split decision victory over Dustin Jacoby in last October’s UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Allen. Rountree is as dangerous as they come, as he has eight knockout wins and six finishes in the first round. While Rountree has lost twice via knockouts, his upcoming opponent has been knocked out five times.
Betting on Chris Daukaus (+170 on DraftKings)
- Odds: +170
- Record: 12-6-0
- Age: 33
- Height: 6′ 3″
- Weight: 242.50 LB
- Reach: 76.00 in
Daukaus just want to end his skid. He’s moving in the absolute opposite direction of Rountree, having gone 0-3 in his last three fights. The last time he won was when ke scored a knockout victory over way back in 2021 during UFC 266: Volkanovski vs. Ortega.
What’s interesting about Daukaus is that he’s been a boom-or-bust fighter. Each of his last 13 fights had ended either with him scoring a knockout or him getting knocked out. That stretch includes two stretches of at least four knockout wins. All he needs is one clean shot to start finishing a fight. For what it’s worth, Daukaus, who has eight first-round finishes, is averaging more strikes landed per minute (6.41) than Rountree (3.67). In seven fights in the UFC thus far, Daukaus managed to earn three Performance of the Night honors.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Khalil Rountree vs Chris Daukaus
This fight is not going to be settled by the judges’ scorecards. I’m expecting this fight to end before the end of the first round, with Rountree extending Daukaus’ losing skid with a knockout win.
Prediction:
Rountree wins via KO.
