It’s been a while since Ferguson last scored a win. For the record, El Cucuy’s last victory happened way back in 2019 in UFC 238: Cejudo vs. Moraes when he stopped Donald Cerrone in the second round. Since then, it’s gone downhill for Ferguson, whose losing skid started when he suffered a defeat at the hands of Justin Gaethje in UFC 249. Ferguson’s most recent fight saw him lose to Nate Diaz via submission in last September’s UFC 279: Diaz vs. Ferguson.
Nevertheless, Ferguson is a threat to anyone he crosses paths with in the lightweight division. He has 13 wins by knockouts and eight by submissions. Plus, he’s won fights nine times by finishing his foe in the first round. Green has four knockout losses in his career, so that’s a favorable sign for Ferguson, who is a former interim lightweight champ.
Betting on Bobby Green (-400 on DraftKings)
- Odds: -400
- Record: 29-14-1, 1NC
- Age: 36
- Height: 5′ 10″
- Weight: 156.00 LB
- Reach: 71 in
Green isn’t having much luck either over his last few fights in the UFC. He saw his winless streak get extended to three fights after a no-contest in a fight against Jared Gordon just last April in UFC Fight Night: Pavlovich vs. Blaydes. Green thought he won that fight via knockout, but it was eventually ruled an NC after replays showed that it was actually a headbutt that caused Gordon to fall back.
Green is landing 5.97 significant strikes per minute with 51.5 percent of his strikes finding the spot. With 10 knockouts and eight wins by submissions, Green can surprise Ferguson with either his power shots or grappling abilities. Green has a pretty good takedown defense as well, having successfully defended 72 percent of his opponents’ takedown attempts in the UFC.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Tony Ferguson vs Bobby Green
Ferguson has a 5.5-reach advantage over Green, but the latter will get some clean shots in and wobble El Cucuy, who is clearly no longer at his prime and whose career is seemingly on the way down.
Prediction:
Green wins via knockout.
