Israel Adesanya (-675)vs. Sean Strickland (+490)
Middleweight
Adesanya returned to the top of the middleweight division when he won his rematch against Alex Pereira last April. All of The Last Stylebender’s last 10 fights have been title bouts, so the bright lights this weekend down in Sydney shouldn’t be too much for him. As for Strickland, this will just be his first title fight, so his hunger must be through the roof. He has won both of his most recent two fights, including a TKO win over Abus Magomedov just last July.
Prediction: Adesanya wins via decision.
Tai Tuivasa (+195) vs. Alexander Volkov (-238)
Heavyweight
Tuivasa is on a two-fight losing skid that he will look to snap when he makes a return to Sydney, where he won his UFC debut way back in 2017. Before he lost consecutively to Ciryl Gane and Sergei Pavlovich last year, Tuivasa was on a scorching run, stitching together five straight knockout victories. Volkov, on the other hand, has won his last two fights, most recently beating (via TKO) Alexandr Romanov back in March.
Prediction: Volkov wins via KO.
Manel Kape (-395) vs. Felipe dos Santos (+310)
Flyweight
Kape (18-6-0) extended his win streak to three fights after scoring a unanimous decision victory over David Dvorak last December. However, that was also just his first fight since December 2021. Kape was originally slated to take on Kai Kara-Franc, who has already been replaced by the undefeated dos Santos. This fight will be dos Santos’ (7-0-0) UFC debut.
Prediction: Kape wins via KO.
Justin Tafa (-205) vs. Austen Lane (+170)
Heavyweight
This will be the second meeting between Tafa (6-3-0) and Lane (12-3-0) but there is really so little to take away from the first one as that lasted just 29 seconds due to an accidental eye poke. Tafa had a two-fight win streak going for him heading into the first fight against Lane. He is also known as a heavy hitter, as evidenced by the fact that all six of his wins came via knockouts. Lane also knows a thing or two about stopping opponents, as all but one of his victories have been knockouts as well.
Prediction: Tafa wins via KO.
Tyson Pedro (-110) vs. Anton Turkalj (-110)
Light Heavyweight
Pedro (9-4-0) is looking to return to his winning ways after suffering a unanimous decision loss to Modestas Bukauskas back in February. He is still a very dangerous fighter, though, with nine first-round finishes to his name plus a 4-1 T/KO record and a 5-1 submission slate. Meanwhile, Turkalj will get another shot at winning his first UFC fight after striking out in his first two tries. He is 8-2-0 with a 5-0 T/KO record.
Prediction: Pedro wins via KO.
