In the midst of another successful NBA campaign, the Denver Nuggets have reached an agreement with coach Michael Malone to keep him in office for several years more, according to ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.
At the moment there are no further details about the multi-year agreement, but it is estimated that it will make him one of the highest paid coaches for the next seasons of the NBA.
As the third coach with the most wins in the history of the Nuggets, he has known how to handle things in a team that in recent years has starred in very good performances with the Serbian Nikola Jokic as the main figure.
Let’s keep in mind that the 50-year-old has a contract until the end of the 2022-23 campaign, but this new deal would keep him in Denver for several more years in order to pursue the franchise’s first title in the NBA.
In the 2021-22 NBA season, the Nuggets sit sixth in the Western Conference with a record of 43 wins and 30 losses.
Michael Malone’s Numbers as Denver Nuggets Coach
After starting his NBA coaching career with the Sacramento Kings, this is Malone’s seventh season at the helm of the Nuggets.
With the team playing at home at Denver’s Ball Arena, the experienced coach records 309 wins and 237 losses, and a remarkable winning percentage of 56.6%.
Beyond the fact that the goals have not been achieved in the NBA playoffs, there is no doubt that Malone has done a great job with a group of very talented players, who in most cases have little experience in times of high tension.
