Romelu Lukaku is set to leave Chelsea a year after agreeing to a second term with the Premier League side.

The Belgian striker was announced on August 12, 2021 as Chelsea’s new acquisition from Inter Milan. In order to acquire his services, the English club paid 115 million euros to the Italian club. Although Romelu Lukaku’s quality had already been proven in all the clubs he had played for, he had a pending subject with Chelsea; in his previous stage, in which he played 10 games, he had not been able to score goals.

The Premier League club initially thought they had done well by signing the Belgian striker, but they now believe the opposite. Although his second stint as “Blue” was not good either, at least this time he scored 15 goals in 59 games in all competitions and was key in winning the Club World Cup.

By the end of last year, Lukaku had already shown signs of not being comfortable at Chelsea, and that was reflected in his performance.

All indications are that the English team has given up and will not force the Belgian player to stay. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Chelsea agreed a loan deal with Inter Milan, for the sum of €8 million. While some are calling this a scam due to Lukaku’s disappointing time at Chelsea, the truth is that Lukaku had some of his best moments with the Neroazzurri.

The Serie A club has not yet made the move official, but it may be because the player is currently on vacation after having been on international duty with his national team in the first few weeks of this month.

Romelu Lukaku is likely to join Inter next week for routine medical examinations, so he can start training with his teammates.

Some are already starting to get their hopes up for the attacking trident of Lautaro Martinez, Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala.

The 29-year-old wants to return to Inter Milan because it was the team where he was able to shine in recent years, after his departure from Everton, the team with which he scored the most goals.
