The Round of 16 Draw defined the matches for this next stage of the Conmebol tournaments, Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.
This Friday, May 27, the round of 16 draw was held in Paraguay, where the Conmebol headquarters are located.
The group stages of both tournaments ended on Thursday the 26th, so prior to the event the 16 teams that will continue in said competitions were ready.
The round of 16 series is played in round-robin matches, and the teams that finished in first place in their group have a slight advantage over those that did not, since they have the privilege of closing the series as locals.
The first legs of both tournaments will be played between June 28 and 30 and the return matches are scheduled between July 5 and 7. The schedules have yet to be defined.
Round of 16 draw – Copa Libertadores 2022 matches
The two-time champion Palmeiras, as well as River Plate, Flamengo, Estudiantes de La Plata, Atlético Mineiro, Libertad, Colón and Boca Juniors were the ones who finished in the first places of their groups in the Copa Libertadores. While Deportes Tolima, Talleres de Córdoba, Fortaleza, Athletico Paranaense, Corinthians, Emelec, Vélez Sarsfield and Cerro Porteño finished in second place.
There are six Brazilian teams, six Argentines, two Paraguayans, one Colombian and one Ecuadorian, which will compete in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores.

The Copa Sudamericana classifies the eight best teams in the group stage, but also includes the third places in the Copa Libertadores.
Lanús, Melgar, Santos, São Paulo, Internacional, Atlético Goianiense, Ceará and Unión de Santa Fe were the teams that finished in first place in their group in the Sudamericana.
Deportivo Táchira, The Strongest, Nacional, Independiente del Valle, Deportivo Cali, Colo Colo, Olimpia and Universidad Católica are the ones that could not advance in Libertadores, and now they will have a new opportunity to seek an international title.
In the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana there will be five Brazilian teams, two Argentines, two Ecuadorians, two Chileans, one Uruguayan, one Bolivian, one Venezuelan, one Peruvian and one Paraguayan:
