- When: August 13 to 21, 2022.
Sleepers for the ATP
Stefanos Tsitsipas (Odds 25/1)
For starters, Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas has been a steady performer throughout this year. He progressed from a semifinalist at the Australian Open to a Masters 1000 winner in Monte Carlo, a semifinalist in Madrid, and a finalist in Rome. This gave him significant and deciding positions in several of the season’s 1000 tournaments, and it’s possible that the same will happen in Cincinnati.
Cameron Norrie (Odds 27/1)
On the other hand, we have British Cameron Norrie. This year he reached his first Grand Slam semifinal (Wimbledon) and obtained the highest ranking of his career so far (10 on April 4). In the last tournament in which he competed, Los Cabos, Mexico, he was a finalist.
Jannik Sinner (Quota 30/1)
Finally, in our ATP sleeper picks, we have the Italian Jannik Sinner. His highest result has been the 250 tournament in Umag, Croatia, where he emerged as champion. In the other major tournaments of the year he has managed to reach the quarterfinals (Australia Open, Dubai, Miami, Monte Carlo, Rome and Wimbledon).
Sleepers for the WTA
Anett Kontaveit (Odds 16/1)
Anett Kontaveit of Estonia has had a consistent season in which she has won one trophy and been a finalist in two others. She currently holds the second place in the WTA ranking with 4476 points. Last month, she reached the quarterfinals in Prague and was a finalist in Hamburg.
Coco Gauff (Odds 20/1)
American Coco Gauff has had a very good season with one WTA 1000 doubles tournament (Doha) and three other finalist positions at both Roland Garros (singles and doubles) and Stuttgart (singles). In the last tournament she played, in San Jose, she reached the quarterfinals.
Aryna Sabalenka (Odds 25/1)
Finally, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka is one of our sleeper picks because of how she has performed this season. She was a finalist in Stuttgart and a semifinalist in Rome. Like Coco Gauff, she reached the quarterfinals in San Jose. She is ranked 6th in the world and for all this she can become the winner of Cincinnati.
