Lazio Preview
Lazio did not get off to a good start in Serie A after the World Cup break, and in their visit to the Stadio Via del Mare, they lost some important points in their fight for European places.
After 16 matches played, the Roman team is in fifth place in the standings with 30 points, three points behind Inter that is in fourth place, and which grants a spot in the next edition of the Champions League.
The good news for Maurizio Sarri’s side is that they have been virtually unbeatable at the Stadio Olimpico this campaign: losing just two of eight matches played, winning five, and drawing one.
Meanwhile, catching Napoli at the top of the table looks complicated, as they are 11 points behind, so a home win is almost a must, considering that a defeat could knock them out of the European places.

Empoli has been having a fairly decent campaign, and they are in 13th place in the standings with 18 points. The team is also far from the relegation places.
Last season, the Tuscan team showed that it can mean trouble for many of the big teams in Serie A, and this time, they will try to do the same when they visit the Stadio Olimpico against a Lazio team that needs to get back to its winning ways.
Empoli’s problem is that it has been having a hard time winning as a visitor, even when the team is an expert in getting even one point. In eight games this season, they have attained one win, three ties and three losses.
Two of those defeats came against Napoli and Juventus, which are among the top four teams in the championship, and who won over them 2-0 and 4-0, respectively. Another thing worth mentioning is that the team coached by Paolo Zanetti is the fourth lowest scoring team in the tournament, with only 13 goals scored.
