Betting on Chivas (-134 at Codere)
The Chivas de Guadalajara team has secured, at least for another matchday, its position at the top of the Liga MX after reaching a draw against Juarez, a team that could have overtaken Chivas with a victory.
Under the leadership of Veljko Paunovic, the team started off strong in the Apertura 2023 season, bouncing back after its defeat in the previous Mexican Clausura final against Tigres in extra time.
Chivas won its first three matches before drawing with Juarez, with two of those wins taking place at home. The first one was a 3-1 victory against San Luis, while the second one was a 2-0 win against Necaxa.
Last season, Chivas only lost two out of its eight home matches, although it only won one out of three playoff matches after losing the first leg of the semifinals against América, and then losing the second leg of the final against Tigres.
Probable lineup (4-3-3): Miguel Jiménez; Alan Mozo, Gilberto Sepúlveda, Jesús Orozco, Cristian Calderón; Roberto Alvarado, Vicente Guzmán, Fernando Beltrán; Nanitamo Padilla, Ricardo Marín, Isaac Brizuela.
Matchday 5 Apertura 2023
Betting on Tijuana (+300 at Codere)
When Tijuana steps on the field this coming Tuesday at Estadio Akron, it will have been a little over a month since the team saw action in the Liga MX. In fact, the team will be playing after its matchday 4 game against Monterrey got rescheduled because the latter will play for third place in the Leagues Cup this Saturday.
In its first three matches of the season, Tijuana did not want to miss out on any emotions and mixed up all possible results. The team started with a defeat against Pumas, it drew against Necaxa, and it defeated Cruz Azul.
Out of those three results, the only one it obtained away was a draw against Necaxa, a match in which the team was winning until the 90+2′ minute when the host team evened the game.
It is worth mentioning that Tijuana has not had an easy time on the road in recent seasons, dating back to the Apertura 2022. Since then, and under the guidance of Miguel Herrera, the team has only managed to achieve three victories in 17 matches played in this condition.
Probable lineup (4-2-3-1): Jesús Corona; Diego Barbosa, Kevin Balanta, Nicolás Díaz, Jesús Cordero; Christian Rivera, Fernando Madrigal; Alexis Canelo, Lucas Rodríguez, Silvio Martínez; Carlos González.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Chivas vs Tijuana
There shouldn’t be any surprises in next Tuesday’s result. Chivas is a much better team than Tijuana, and playing at home, it should be able to add another victory to its record.
The Guadalajara team won its first two matches of the season playing on its home field, and it did so convincingly, scoring five goals and conceding only one.
On the other hand, Tijuana does not seem to know what to do to win on the road. The team has only managed to achieve three wins in its last 17 away matches, and it is worth mentioning that it lost 10 of those matches.
Furthermore, Chivas has not lost in its last seven encounters against the Tijuana, and at home, it has won five out of its last six games against this rival.
Having said that, at JefeBet we recommend you to head over to Codere to play the Chivas Moneyline, a line that stands at (-134) and that will earn you up to $75 for every $100 betted.
