Cruz Azul Preview
As we already mentioned, the game against Xolos was good (it ended with a 1-1 draw). The coach, Raúl Gutiérrez, said that he liked the team’s performance, but that they could not have any free spots at the back. Unfortunately, Cruz Azul’s problem (as always) is off the field.
The issue of Uriel Antuna, whose departure to Panathinaikos was blocked, and the issue of Julio César el Cata Domínguez, who had an unfortunate family episode, is making a lot of noise in the dressing room of the team, which is surely not completely well in terms of mood.
Defensively, they suffered a little, but if all goes well, Carlos Vargas will be arriving to reinforce the defense. He can play as a center back or left back, areas in which the La Noria team normally suffers. It is complicated for the young defender to play this game, but it is good news for Cruz Azul, which needs exactly that.
Probable lineup (3-4-3): Jesús Corona; Rafael Guerrero, Juan Escobar, Ramiro Funes Mori; Rodrigo Huescas, Erik Lira, Alexis Gutiérrez, José Rivero; Christian Tabó, Michael Estrada, Carlos Rotondi
Monterrey Preview
Monterrey lost at home to Chivas by a score of 0-1, and it was a real low-blow for the team, especially because of the way it fell. It dominated most of the game and stormed the other team, but the goal never came.
Moreover, they missed a penalty kick in the 84th minute; and, from the 78th minute, they played with an extra player due to the expulsion of Gilberto Sepúlveda of Chivas. But this is their second consecutive defeat, as they played a friendly against River, in which the Millonario did them dirty in the first half.
In the second half, Víctor Vucetich’s team played better and equalized, but had a legitimate goal disallowed. Rayados is not playing badly at all, but they keep getting to the scoring zone and just don’t score. Rogelio Funes Mori is still off and Germán Berterame seems to have caught the same bug.
Probable lineup (4-4-2): Esteban Andrada; Jesus Gallardo, Hector Moreno, Stefan Medina, Erick Aguirre; Arturo Gonzalez, Celso Ortiz, Luis Romo, Maxi Meza; Rogelio Funes Mori, German Berterame
JefeBet Prediction
Rayados recently presented Víctor Guzmán, their executioner in the Clausura 2016 final. After his doping case, he has not got back to his best level, but he has risen a lot. He is likely to get minutes and help the striped cause.
We believe the game will end up with a tie. Both are good teams, but they are weak when it comes to attacking. The Azteca will witness a duel of twins in terms of performance.
Prediction: Cruz Azul 0-0 Monterrey.
