O’Higgins Preview
After falling just one point short of international competition last campaign, O’Higgins got off to a good start in the current championship with a win over newly promoted Magallanes.
Under the command of Pablo de Muner, the team from Rancagua managed to get a good result despite giving the ball to its rival throughout the match, as it was reflected in the 61-39 ball possession. That is something the team will surely repeat this coming Sunday when they face Colo Colo, the reigning champion and main favorite to get the title.
Yet, O’Higgins is not an easy opponent when it is playing at home. Last campaign, the team was the sixth-best team in the tournament playing at home with 30 points in 15 games, scoring 22 goals and conceding just 12.
Probable lineup (4-3-3): Ignacio González; Fabián Hormazábal, Juan Eduardo Fuentes, Nicolás Thaller, Antonio Díaz; Valentín Larralde, Matías Marín, Diego Fernández; Pablo Hernández, Esteban Moreira, Francisco Arancibia.
Colo Colo Preview
Colo Colo got off to the best possible start on its road to the bicampeonato with a comfortable win over Copiapó. Gustavo Quinteros’ team settled the game early on and after leading 0-2 in the first 15 minutes. Although Copiapó scored after the first hour of play, in the second half of the match the Albo team was a on fire.
Despite sharing possession of the ball, five of the six shots on goal found the net. This speaks volumes to the danger of the current Chilean champion’s forward line.
For this matchday 2, the challenge looks a little more complicated. O’Higgins is always strong at home, but Colo Colo was the best team playing away from home last year, registering 26 points in 15 games played.
Probable lineup (4-3-3): Brayan Cortés; Jeyson Rojas, Maximiliano Falcón, Ramiro González, Erick Wiemberg; César Fuentes, Agustín Bouzat, Jordhy Thompson; Matías Moya, Leandro Benegas, Marco Bolados.
JefeBet Prediction
Next Sunday’s match will be more complicated than many might think for Colo Colo, even after the great performance of the first day of action.
Previous visits to Rancagua, had not been very productive for El Cacique, as reflected in the fact that in the last eight games at O’Higgins’ home, Colo Colo has two wins, three draws and three defeats.
These matches are also hard-fought, and in five of those eight games there have been two goals or fewer between the two clubs.
Prediction: Under (OHI 0 – COL 1).
