Belgium started its participation in the 2022 World Cup Qatar on the right foot with a hard-fought victory over Canada. The star of the match for the Belgians was Thibaut Courtois, who is considered the best goalkeeper in the world today and who made four great saves, including a penalty saved from Alphonso Davies 11 minutes into the first half.
Roberto Martinez’s team from Spain never seemed to be at ease playing against a North American squad that attempted 21 shots on goal. However, only four of them were on target within Courtois’ three goal posts.

Of the five African teams in the competition, Morocco and Tunisia were the only two to achieve good results on the first matchday and that is due to the high quality of the players in their squad, such as Achraf Hakimi, PSG winger, and Youssef En-Nesyri, starting striker for Spain’s Sevilla.
As against Croatia, the Africans are not favored to come out on top against Belgium, but their defense looked pretty solid in the first test of the group stage and the absence of Romelu Lukaku in the European forward line may bode well for them.
