All About the Opening Ceremony of Qatar 2022
This ceremony was held at the Al Bayt Stadium with an audience of approximately 60,000 people. The theme they chose for this presentation was how sport unites the human race through inclusion, emotions and shared experiences.
The opening was marked by the presence of Morgan Freeman, along with camels and a percussion show and a huge number of dancers who showed through costumes, colors and music the Qatari traditions and culture.
Freeman was joined by Ghanim al-Muftah, an athlete with caudal regression syndrome, a rare disorder that affects the development of the lower spine. He became the ambassador of the World Cup thanks to the work he has done for the inclusion of disabled people in the world of sports. Together they gave a speech about inclusion and togetherness.
Afterwards, several songs were sung, which were a mixture of different anthems most representative of the national teams of each country in their original language. In this way, each team had its seconds of musical interpretation referring to support choruses that are usually sung in stadiums.
