Betting on A.S. Roma
Roma slipped out of the Champions League places last matchday with a rather painful defeat against Cremonese, second last in Serie A, who achieved its first win of the season at the expense of a Roman team that has also been eliminated in the Coppa Italia.
The loss, which was only the second in the last nine matches the team has played since the return from the World Cup break, sent La Lupa to fifth place in the standings with 44 points, one behind city rivals Lazio.
That is why José Mourinho’s team cannot afford to drop points at home, especially considering how close the battle for the European places is, with only six points separating the sixth and second place in the standings.
Roma’s strength this season has been its defense. Indeed, the team has 21 goals conceded, which is the fourth fewest in Serie A. But, the problem is that the team has not been able to take full advantage of that performance since, within the top 10 teams in the standings, it is the second team with the second-fewest goals scored with 31.
At home, the Roman club has also responded defensively by conceding the fewest goals, with five in 11 matches. But, as we have already mentioned, its attack has not lived up to the expectations, scoring only 13 goals.
Probable lineup (3-4-2-1):Rui Patrício; Gianluca Mancini, Chris Smalling, Roger Ibañez; Nemanja Matic, Leonardo Spinazzola, Bryan Cristante, Nicola Zalewski; Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Pellegrini; Andrea Belotti.
Betting on Juventus
After the 15-point drop imposed on Juventus last January, the Turin-based team has had to row against the tide to get closer to the European places again, and this Sunday the team has a great opportunity to continue to get closer to the coveted places.
Thanks to four victories in a row, the Vecchia Signora climbed to seventh place in the standings with 35 points, six points behind Atalanta in the Conference League and nine points behind Roma in the Europa League.
If this is a crucial match for the Romans, for Juventus it is a do-or-die game, as it could either bring the team within six points of La Lupa or push it 12 points further away. This is quite a distance, considering that there are still 13 matchdays left in the championship.
In three of those four victories, the defense of Massimiliano Allegri’s team has lived up to its good performance by not allowing its opponents to score goals. With 19 goals conceded after 24 matchdays played, Juventus is the second lowest-scoring club in the competition, along with Lazio.
Juve is the fifth-best away team in the Italian Calcio with 20 points out of a possible 33, but the team has lost three of its four away matches in the competition. Much of the blame for these defeats lies in the fact that while it has conceded only nine goals, it has scored just 11 times.
Probable lineup (3-5-1-1): Wojciech Szczęsny, Danilo, Bremer, Alex Sandro; Mattia De Sciglio, Nicoló Fagioli, Manuel Locatelli, Adrien Rabiot, Filip Kostic; Ángel Di María; Dusan Vlahovic.
JefeBet Prediction
Two of the best defenses in Serie A meet this Sunday in a match that promises to be exciting and fierce because of the importance of what is at stake. Roma has conceded just five goals in front of its home fans, and the only three defeats the team has suffered at the Stadio Olimpico were by 0–1 scorelines (against Lazio, Napoli and Atalanta).
Meanwhile, Juventus is the third club that has allowed the fewest away goals with nine, five of which came in the defeat against Napoli on matchday 18.
In addition to that fact, La Lupa has only scored 13 times at home and La Vecchia Signora has one of the worst attacks on the road with 11 goals.
Prediction: Under (ROM 1 – JUV 1).
