Predictions, Odds, and Betting Odds for Sporting Cristal for the 2023 Liga 1 Season
The team coached by Brazilian Tiago Nunes, Sporting Cristal will debut in the Apertura First Division Tournament on Saturday, January 21, at home against Academia Cantolao.
The light blue team board is focusing in consolidating a strong squad for the upcoming tournaments. Brazilian defender Ignácio Da Silva, 26, recently joined the team to reinforce the central back line after the departure of Argentine Omar Merlo, a major loss for Sporting as he was captain and symbol of the team during his five seasons in the club.
Da Silva comes from EC Bahia, a club in the Brazilian Second division, and joins another compatriot who signed a contract with the Lima club: Brenner Marlos, a striker who arrives from Ituano, a club in the Paulista league.
Another important signing confirmed by Cristal is left-winger Jostin Alarcón, who has had a good season with Sport Boys and is a member of his country’s U-20 national team. Adrián Ugarriza (from Cienciano) and Adrián Ascues (from Deportivo Municipal) complete the list of players joining Sporting Cristal.
Sporting Cristal in the 2022 Season
Sporting Cristal was the team that scored the most points throughout the year, counting all the Peruvian competitions, even more than the team that finished as champion, Alianza Lima. However, those points were only enough to make them qualify for the group stage of the next Copa Libertadores. Melgar knocked them out of the race in the playoff semifinals. Irvin Ávila was their most important player, with 10 assists in 38 games.
Sporting Cristal in the Copa Libertadores 2023
With 36 participations, it is the Peruvian club that has participated the most times in the Copa Libertadores, where it was a finalist in 1997 (losing to Cruzeiro), and the 2023 edition does not seem to be an exception. However, in order to reach one of the groups, they will have to qualify playing two previous matches. They will be participating in Phase 2, a ticket they got after reaching the semifinalists in the domestic league.
Sporting Cristal will have to wait for the winner of Sport Huancayo (Peru) and Nacional (Paraguay), which will define Phase 1. Then, if it is successful in Phase 2, they will have to face a series against Huracán or the winner of the match between Zamora (Venezuela) and Boston River (Uruguay).

Sporting Cristal is one of the greatest clubs in Peru, and it would not be strange to see it once again fight for glory in its domestic league, as we anticipate in JefeBet that at the end of the campaign we will see them at the top of the standings, although in the Copa Libertadores we do not predict the best of futures for them.
Liga 1 Peruvian First Division Prediction: third place.
Copa Libertadores Prediction: will not reach the group stage.
