The third seed of the Australian Open 2023, Stefanos Tsitsipas, played an easy first round match in which he did not have to work too hard. He beat Quentin Halys (French) in straight sets, and only the third set went to a tie-break. The match lasted exactly two hours.
The Greek had an impressive performance, launching 17 aces, with 64% of first serves in, and an 84% effectiveness with his first serves. This is one of Tsitsipas’ best weapons that undoubtedly left his opponent without many tools to defend himself. Even though Halys had 9 break chances, he could only convert 2, while Tsitsipas had 7 and converted 4.
He also hit 46 winners and had impressive speeds with both his first and second serves. The former had an average speed of 192 km/h and the latter of 160 km/h. Thus, the match was defined by 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (8).

Now, Tsitsipas’ counterpart for the second round of the Australian Open 2023, Rinky Hijikata (Australian), had an alarming first round match that lasted 4 hours and 25 minutes against Yannik Hanfmann (German).
