As the No. 1 player in the world and the reigning US Open champion, it’s not at all surprising to see Swiatek as the top favorite to win this year’s edition of the tournament. She also bagged a Grand Slam title this year when she topped the field in Wimbledon. The four-time major winner is also just coming off a strong run in the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati as part of her preparation for the US Open.

Sabalenka is looking to cap off the Grand Slam season exactly the way she started it – with a win. It can be remembered that the Belarusian won the 2023 Australian Open to capture her first and so far, only, major title of her career. In 2022, she lost in the semis to Swiatek.

Rybakina has become one of the strongest competitors of late. The Russian has two titles this year, having won the Internazionali BNL d’Italia and the BNP Paribas Open. Rybakina had a forgettable US Open in 2022, as he was eliminated in the first round by Clara Burel. Nevertheless, Rybakina is a name to watch, considering she’s ranked fourth overall in the world right now.

Ostapenko isn’t known to be a strong performer in the US Open, but could this be the year she finally turns heads in the tournament? Last year, she crashed out of the competition in the very first round, the second time it happened in her US Open career. That being said, Ostapenko has reached at least the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam event four times, including a win in the 2017 Wimbledon.

Fernandez lost on the grand stage to Emma Raducanu, but she definitely sent a strong message.
