If there is an authorized voice to give his opinion regarding what is currently happening in the world of golf, that is Tiger Woods, and the legendary American golfer took the time to talk about the subject after a practice round in St. Andrews. facing the next edition of The Open, which begins on July 14.

tiger woods the open statements

Tiger Woods spoke about the current conflict between the PGA Tour and the new LIV Golf circuit, as well as the golfers who have made the decision to switch to the new circuit, being quite critical of them.

I think that what they’ve done is they’ve turned their back on what has allowed them to get to this position.

Words from Tiger Woods, according to CBS’ Kyle Porter.

Woods’ words come after several renowned golfers have switched to LIV Golf, such as Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau, who are now part of the new golf circuit and have left behind the PGA Tour; who, in turn, imposed sanctions against them for this decision.

Tyler Woods’ main concern is for the amateur players, who may never play in a Grand Slam or major championship if the sanctions remain in place.

Some of these players may not ever get a chance to play in major championships. That is a possibility. We do not yet know for sure. It’s up to all the major championship bodies to make that determination.

But that is a possibility, that some players will never, ever get a chance to play in a major championship, never get a chance to experience this right here, walk down the fairways at Augusta National. I just don’t understand it.

Tiger Woods spoke about the “lack of motivation” of the new circuit

Woods, who at 46 years of age has had one of the greatest careers in golf history, having won 15 majors and 82 titles on the PGA Tour (tied for the most on the circuit), also spoke of the lack of motivation in LIV Golf beyond the prize money and the “lack of life” in its events.

What is their incentive to practice? What is the incentive to go out there and earn it in the dirt? You’re just getting paid a lot of money up front and playing a few events and playing 54 holes. They’re playing blaring music and have all these atmospheres that are different.

The American will return to compete at The Open after opting out of the US Open as part of his recovery and preparation for the 150th edition of the world’s oldest golf tournament. Considering his status in the world of golf, his opinion will surely resonate with many.
