After his irregular participation in the 2022 Masters, Tiger Woods already has a clear work plan for the Open Championship.

The former number one of international golf plans to play the JP McManus Pro-AM in Ireland on July 4, which will be an event that will serve as a prelude to the prestigious British major that is scheduled to be played between the 14th and 17th of the same month, according to USA Today Sports.

This news confirms the 46-year-old American’s desire to return in the best possible shape to the European major which he won previously in 2000, 2005 and 2006.

It is important to highlight that the last time Woods played the Open Championship was in 2020, when the event was contested at TPC Handing Park, and where he finished 37th in the standings with final score of one under par for the field.

Two of the best golfers in history, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, have signed up for the 2022 edition of the US Open, which will be held June 16th-19th in Massachusetts.

The application is just a simple formality that players must complete in order to confirm their intentions to take part in the U.S. major, which last year was won by Spain’s Jon Rahm.

Woods returned to competition a few days ago at the Augusta Masters, where he finished 47th in the standings with a score of six over par. Whereas Mickelson has stayed away from PGA courses since controversy erupted over his comments about Saudi Arabia.

As for Tiger Woods, it should be noted that the player has ruled out returning to compete in the full PGA schedule. In other words, he will only focus on being part of the main professional golf events, a strategy similar to that of Roger Federer in tennis.
