Matchday 4 of the 2022 Apertura, which featured matches from Wednesday to Sunday, had a little bit of everything, proving that the intensity increases as the matchdays progress. Some of the teams that had presented several defensive flaws have now corrected them and that has led to a lack of goals, but even so, there are several that have managed to stand out.
Once again, the goal production was 17 goals, as in Matchday 3. Two of the nine games played finished 0-0, and a total of eight teams failed to score goals.

André-Pierre Gignac – Tigres
Frenchman André-Pierre Gignac scored the second goal as Tigres defeated Atlas in Saturday’s match. The goal is one of the best of Matchday 4 because of how the play developed. Gignac received the ball after a superb back-heel from Sebastián Córdova, controlled the ball and headed for goal to score.
Joaquín Montecinos – Tijuana
Chilean Joaquín Montecinos scored his first goal of the match in Tijuana’s 2-0 win over Club América. His goal was his second and came in the 62nd minute. After taking a corner kick, an América defender rejected the ball but the ball found its way to Montecinos, who took it as it came and scored one of the great goals of Matchday 4.
Germán Berterame – Monterrey
Argentine Germán Berterame scored his first goal for Rayados in a 3-0 win over Querétaro. The striker received the ball a few meters outside the area, made space between the defenders and unleashed a right-footed shot that left the rival goalkeeper with no chance.
Jordi Cortizo – Puebla
Mexican Jordi Cortizo scored a tremendous goal in the 2-2 draw between Cruz Azul and Puebla. The “La Franja” player scored the game’s first goal in the second minute. He received the ball, saw that he was well placed and shot with great power, surprising everyone.
Facundo Batista – Necaxa
Uruguay’s Facundo Batista scored a stunning goal to give Necaxa a 1-0 win over Juárez. The play started from the other goal: they soon saw Batista had space and threw him the ball, he opened up on the right side, and despite having the opponent’s mark on him, he managed to kick the ball into the net with his right foot.
