The Miami Dolphins have given the team a complete facelift by making major acquisitions this offseason, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa recently mentioned that he will take the pressure of having a successful campaign from the team’s new acquisitions.
Tua Tagovailoa participated in a podcast in recent days, and had some words about the expectations that lie within the franchise for this upcoming 2022 NFL season. “I think pressure is everywhere, especially in any professional industry. You’re either going to make use of this opportunity with the guys we have or you’re not. That’s what it is. I’m looking forward to making use of this opportunity.” The Dolphins’ #1 also noted that “We’ve got to do the most important thing why we’re here, which is just win games.”
The Miami franchise has been a talking point this offseason, bringing in high-caliber players such as wide receiver Tyreek Hill (six-time Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl champion) from the Kansas City Chiefs, offensive tackle Terron Armstead (three-time Pro Bowl selection) from the New Orleans Saints and Cedrick Wilson Jr. from the Dallas Cowboys.
While these acquisitions were described as “exciting” by Tua Tagovailoa, the truth is that we will have to see how things turn out, but on paper this Miami team looks capable of improving on its previous season, which ended with a 9-8-0 record, good for third place in the AFC East division.
Tua Tagovailoa’s Future Also up in the Air
The Miami Dolphins were on the verge of making an acquisition also at the quarterback position, as the organization was one of the main interested in acquiring the services of DeShaun Watson, although they would end up desisting and the player would end up leaving for the Cleveland Browns. After that, they would end up ratifying Tua Tagovailoa at the starting quarterback position, handing him the keys to the team for the upcoming season.
Tagovailoa, who debuted with the Dolphins in 2020, has not performed poorly with the team, with a record of 13-8 in games in which he has started and throwing for a total of 27 touchdowns, 15 interceptions and 4467 total yards with a pass completion percentage of 66.2%, but he has battled injuries, which have plagued him throughout his young NFL career.
The franchise’s new head coach, Mike McDaniel, showed positive support for Tua Tagovaoloa, saying he is “really excited going forward because Tua has good skills that I think are untapped.” Now, it is up to Tua to repay the trust placed in him by the entire franchise, so he will indeed have a lot of pressure on his shoulders for the upcoming campaign.
