UFC Fight Night: Landwehr vs Onama Picks & Predictions

The Nate Landwehr vs David Onama fight will co-headline the upcoming UFC Fight Night, and the bout between the two featherweights has been highly anticipated by many fans after the previous fight between the two in Columbus on March 26 was cancelled following the former’s withdrawal.

Now, both will face each other on August 13, 2022, at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. On this occasion, Onama stepped forward to fight since the one who should have been Landweh’s opponent, Zubaira Tukhugov, could not show up on August 6 due to visa problems.

Here at JefeBet we present our analysis of each fighter and our prediction for the fight, which we hope they don’t cancel this time!

  • Odds: +265
  • Record: 15-4-0
  • Age: 34
  • Height: 1.75 m
  • Weight: 65.9 kg
  • Reach: 1.79 m

Nate Landwehr has struggled to establish himself in the UFC thus far, as the Tennessee native has alternated between winning and losing in his first four appearances, being defeated both times by knockout.

The last of those fights was a submission victory over Ludovit Klein, which earned him “Performance of the Night” honors, although it has been just under ten months since then.

Now, the former M-1 featherweight champion has another opportunity in front of him to prove he has what it takes to make a name for himself in the UFC, though he’ll need to keep his focus on not losing again.

David Onama

  • Odds: -285
  • Record: 10-1-0
  • Age: 28
  • Height: 1.80 m
  • Weight: 65.9 kg
  • Reach: 1.88 m

Like Landwehr, David Onama got his UFC career off on the wrong foot with a unanimous decision loss to Mason Jones on October 23, 2021. However, the Missouri fighter proved that the loss did not affect him psychologically by following it up with a pair of consecutive victories.

Both wins were achieved in 2022, one against Gabriel Benítez by knockout in February and the most recent was in July, when he defeated former bantamweight champion Garrett Armfield by submission.

Neither of his last two fights reached the third round, so Onama is expected to have a brief octagon appearance, either for better or worse.

JefeBet Prediction

For this fight, we are going to take the bookmakers at their word for a possible David Onama victory.

The bookies have not been wrong about the fighter so far, as in his previous two fights he entered the octagon as a betting favorite and managed to live up to that label, and we expect him to do so for the third consecutive time.

Pick: David Onama by KO.
