The Commodores come into their visit to Alabama in good shape after a solid start to the season that has them dreaming of playing in a Bowl this year.
However, Alabama is by far the strongest team they have faced in 2022. If they want to put up a fight in Tuscaloosa, their offense must continue to perform as well as it has in the first three weeks, averaging 42 points in their first four games. To do so, they will have to try to establish their ground game, but it will not be easy against the locals.
But the Commodores have a bigger problem. Their defense has not been solvent at all, allowing 28.5 points per game and against Alabama’s offense the game could end in a massacre if they are not able to stop them in the important moments.

After losing the No. 1 ranking in the nation with its short-lived 20-19 win over Texas, Alabama showed all its power last week by beating UL Monroe and establishing itself as one of the candidates to fight for the national championship.
Vanderbilt will be a good opponent to continue warming up, although its defense does not have the arguments to stop the aerial attack led by quarterback Bryce Young, who this season completed 68.2 % of his passes, with 644 yards and nine touchdown passes. There is a reason why they average 37 points scored per game.
As for the defense, it must establish its system of play early against a Commodores offense that has looked quite interesting this year. Stopping their ground game will be key and they will appeal to all their quality to maintain their spectacular average of only 8.7 points conceded per duel.

Vanderbilt has played very well this season, but it won’t be enough to beat the Crimson Tide. Alabama hasn’t lost at home since November 2019, looks to start for the seventh straight time with a 4-0 record and in the four previous meetings between the two Alabama only conceded 20 points.
