Betting on the New York Giants (-5.5)
Regular season record: 0-1
The Giants can only wish for the memory of their Week 1 loss at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys at home to be wiped entirely out of their collective memory. New York could not have had a worse start to its season than the 40-0 defeat it took against the Cowboys. But there’s no way but up for the Giants, who will look to get it together against a much lighter opponent this Sunday.
Daniel Jones, who went just 15/28 for 104 passing yards and zero touchdowns with two interceptions against the Cowboys, can be able to run a more coherent offense on the field in Week 2 against an Arizona squad that isn’t viewed as a playoff contender. Defensively, the Giants will have an easier task of stopping the Cardinals, who are relying on Joshua Dobbs, a quarterback who would be a backup at best in most other NFL teams.
Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (+5.5)
Regular season record: 0-1
The Cardinals were not exceptional either in Week 1, but at least they weren’t shut out like New York was. Arizona suffered a 20-16 road loss to the Washington Commanders but showed some life, especially on defense. The Cardinals limited Washington to only 248 total yards and also forced three turnovers.
They also sacked Washington quarterback Sam Howell six times for a Commanders loss of 46 yards. That stat is important to take note of because the Giants don’t seem to have great or even good pass protection based on the fact that they allowed Jones to get sacked seven times by the Cowboys. There is life in Arizona, especially on defense. Dennis Gardeck had two sacks in Week 1, while Zaven Collins had the lone Cardinals defensive interception in the Washington game.
El Jefe’s Prediction on New York Giants vs Arizona Cardinals
The Giants move on from their Week 1 debacle by crushing the Cardinals for a win and cover.
Prediction:
The Giants win, 24-13.
