Betting on the Gonzaga Bulldogs
- Regular Season Record: 29-5
Gonzaga is still standing – and dancing. Drew Timme showed why he is one of the all-time greatest players in college basketball with a resounding performance in the second round versus the TCU Horned Frogs, 84-81. Gonzaga got 28 points from Timme, who shot 12-for-21 from the field and also grabbed eight rebounds.
Timme is the heart and soul of this Gonzaga squad that once again proved that its offense is hard to stop. On the season, Gonzaga is No. 1 in the nation with 123.5 points per 100 possessions adjusted and also tops with a 58.3 effective field goal percentage. Gonzaga had a shaky start to the season, but that’s no longer the story, with the Bulldogs having not lost since a Feb. 4 defeat at the hands of the Saint Mary’s Gaels.
Betting on the UCLA Bruins
- Regular Season Record: 31-5
The Bruins blew out the UNC Asheville Bulldogs in the first round to the tune of an 86-53 score and then survived the challenge of the Northwestern Wildcats in the second round last Saturday for a 68-63 victory. Starter and guard David Singleton suffered a nasty sprain late in the Northwestern game but reportedly is going to be ready to play this Thursday.
Although not as high of a scoring team as Gonzaga, the Bruins are capable of keeping in step with the Bulldogs on that end of the floor. The Bruins have posted a 57.9 eFG% in the win over UNC Asheville and then had a 56.8 eFG% in the game versus Northwestern. UCLA can also cut Gonzaga down to size with the Bruins’ defense that is second in the nation with just 87.7 points allowed per 100 possessions.
JefeBet Prediction
As mentioned earlier, the Bruins have a stout defense that can make the world smaller for Gonzaga. UCLA does just that and scores a win to advance to the next round.
Prediction: UCLA wins, 78-73.
