The Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix was raced for the first time in 1971. The MotoGP World Championship returned to Austria in 2016 after an 18-year break. This Austrian GP took place in 1971 at the Salzburgring circuit, which hosted Grand Prix races 22 times until 1994.

This time, JefeBet brings you the odds, picks and predictions for this weekend’s race.

Picks and Predictions for the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix

  • Where: Spielberg, Styria, Austria
  • When: Friday, August 19 to Sunday, August 21, 2022

Picks

Francesco Bagnaia (Odds +225)

Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix

The first of our favorites for Sunday’s GP is Peco Bagnaia. This season, the Italian has finished on 1st place in the podium four times on his Ducati bike, including the last two races, the British Grand Prix and the Dutch Grand Prix. This makes him the betting favorite to fight for first place in this Austrian GP.

Fabio Quartararo (Odds +300)

Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix

In second place we have the current leader of the MotoGP 2022 Drivers’ Championship: Fabio Quartararo. This driver has been on the podium six times this year, three times in first place and three times in second place. He retired (Holland) and finished eighth in the last two races (Great Britain). This makes him one of the best picks for this race.

Jack Miller (Odds +500)

Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix

Jack Miller, Australian rider, has finished third three times and second once. One of his best results this year came in his last race in the United Kingdom. According to betting odds, he is another favorite to win.

Sleeper Picks

Aleix Espargaró (Odds +700)

Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix

However, Aleix Espargaró is one of our two sleeper picks. The Spaniard won this season’s Argentine GP and finished third in Portugal, Spain, France and Italy. Additionally, he reached fourth place in Germany and the Netherlands and ninth place in Great Britain. Although he is not one of the favorites, he has a good chance of winning.

Jorge Martín (Odds +700)

Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix

Similarly, Espargaró’s compatriot, Jorge Martín, has a chance of taking the podium. His results are a little lower than those of the rest of the drivers, however, he came in fifth position in Great Britain and in both Catalonia and Argentina he occupied the second position. He’s one of the most competitive drivers, and the odds tell us the same thing.

Dark Horse

Johann Zarco (Odds +700)

Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix

Finally, our dark horse is Johann Zarco, who withdrew from the British race, but came second in Germany and Portugal, as well as third in Indonesia and Catalonia. Given that he hasn’t raced since returning from vacation, but that his previous results have been good, he could be a good choice for the Austrian Grand Prix.

JefeBet Prediction

Taking all this into account, our JefeBet pick is Francesco Bagnaia. We are confident that this pilot will outperform the other pilots in the meeting on Sunday, August 21 by confirming his skills and capabilities. He’s coming off excellent results and has a strong pace that he’ll be able to maintain at the next MotoGP race of the season. For these reasons, he’s our pick.
