Predictions and betting preview for the 2022 NFL Week 5 Games
Indianapolis Colts (+145) vs Denver Broncos (-175) / Thursday, October 06 / 8:15 PM E.T.
- Colts Spread: +3.5.
- Broncos Spread: -3.5.
- Over/Under: 43.5
This week’s Thursday Night Football matchup pits the Colts against the Broncos, two teams who are in desperate need of getting back to winning ways.
After a very good win over the Chiefs, Indianapolis fell short at home against the Titans after committing three costly turnovers. Matt Ryan had a good day with over 350 yards, but a fumble and an interception of his own ended in two touchdowns for Tennessee. Their hopes in Denver are that their excellent defense will have another great day against the Broncos’ poor offense.
Denver’s offense finally surpassed 20 points this season, scoring 23 against the Raiders, but Russell Wilson and company are still struggling. Additionally, Javonte Williams, one of their best runners, will miss the rest of the season. The Colts’ chances of winning again on Thursday are dependent on their defense reverting to the form that saw them not allow more than 20 points in each of the previous three games.
Prediction: Under.

New York Giants (+275) vs Green Bay Packers (-345) / Sunday, October 09 / 9:30 AM E.T.
- Spread Giants: +8.0.
- Packers Spread: -8.0.
- Over/Under: 41.5.
The Giants and Packers, two of the strongest teams in the NFC at the start of the season, will be the stars of the second international game of the 2022 calendar when they meet next Sunday in England.
The Giants added their third win of the year with another defensive masterclass by barely allowing 12 points to the Bears, a team that was unable to score a touchdown. New York only conceded 303 total yards and forced six fumbles, three of which were recovered. Of course, the Packers have a better offense than Chicago, but the Giants haven’t conceded more than 400 total yards this year and less than 340 in each of the last three weeks.
Green Bay, meanwhile, cruised to an overtime victory over a Patriots team that fought to the end without Mac Jones. Aaron Rodgers completed two touchdown passes for the third week in a row, but he also threw his third interception of the season, one fewer than he did all of last year. Although the defense only gave up 271 yards, they failed to preserve the advantage acquired in the game on two occasions
Prediction: Giants Spread.

Pittsburgh Steelers (+600) vs Buffalo Bills (-909) / Sunday, October 09 / 1:00 PM E.T.
- Steelers Spread: +14.0.
- Bills Spread: -14.0.
- Over/Under: 47.5
In one of the most lopsided matchups in NFL Week 5, the Bills will host the struggling Steelers.
After a winning start to the season, Pittsburgh has lost three games in a row and the last one, to the Jets, in a very painful manner. With 13:30 remaining in the game, the Steelers were up by 10 touchdowns, but New York took full advantage of three interceptions by Kenny Pickett, and the last one by Mitch Trubisky, to rebound and take the victory.
For their part, the Bills came back from a 10-point deficit in the second half to defeat the Ravens. After allowing 20 first-half touchdowns, Buffalo’s defense held Baltimore scoreless in the second half, allowing Josh Allen to lead the offense to the comeback. The quarterback will now face a talented defense that is struggling and may be missing Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Prediction: Under.

Los Angeles Chargers (-159) vs Cleveland Browns (+135) / Sunday, October 09 / 1:00 PM E.T.
- Spread Chargers: -3.0.
- Spread Browns: +3.0.
- Over/Under: 47.5
The Chargers and Browns, both with 2-2 records, meet in an intriguing battle of teams with postseason aspirations in the AFC on Sunday.
Los Angeles quickly turned the page on the tough loss to the Jaguars with a comfortable win over the Texans. Justin Herbert had another strong performance with 340 yards and two touchdown passes, while Austin Ekeler added two more touchdowns on the ground. However, it was not all good news, as top linebacker Joey Bosa will be out for eight to ten weeks.
As for the Browns, they were unable to finish off the Falcons in the fourth quarter and fell for the second time this season. A strong performance by running back Nick Chubb, who totaled 118 yards and a touchdown, was of little use, as with 1:33 remaining Jacoby Brissett was intercepted, while the defense conceded 13 points in the final quarter.
Prediction: Over.

Houston Texans (+260) vs Jacksonville Jaguars (-345) / Sunday, October 09 / 1:00 PM E.T.
- Texans Spread: +7.0.
- Jaguars Spread: -7.0.
- Over/Under: 44.5.
NFL Week 5 brings us an AFC South showdown as the Texans look for their first win of the season when they visit the Jaguars.
Despite several close games, the Houston team is the only one on the circuit that has yet to win. However, last week, they were completely dominated by a Chargers’ offense that totaled 419 total yards and ran into a Texans offense that just can’t seem to wake up. Their 24 points last weekend were their most in 2022, and Davis Mills has added up only five touchdowns and four interceptions.
For their part, the Jaguars suffered a tough loss to the Eagles despite starting 14-0. Jacksonville was unable to secure the ball and had four fumbles and an interception. Each of those turnovers ended in Philadelphia touchdowns, while the last loose ball came with seven seconds left in the game. This is something they will have to improve against the Texans’ less complicated defense if they want to stay on top of the division.
Prediction: Jaguars Spread.

Chicago Bears (+240) vs Minnesota Vikings (-303) /Sunday, October 09 / 1:00 PM E.T.
- Bears Spread: +7.0.
- Spread Vikings: -7.0.
- Over/Under: 44.0.
The NFC North promises to be exciting until the end of the season, and we have a strong matchup this Sunday when the Bears visit the Vikings.
Chicago is still struggling offensively, as they only managed 12 points with four field goals against the Giants. Additionally, quarterback Justin Field had his third straight game without throwing a touchdown pass. Against the Vikings, who have conceded more than 300 yards only once, things don’t look very good if we consider that they had three fumbles.
As for Minnesota, they are coming off a very important win in England against the Saints. They scored 28 points against New Orleans’ tough defense. Now, the trident of Kirk Cousins, Delvin Cook and Justin Jefferson will have another tough test against a Chicago team that only conceded more than 20 points once this season.
Prediction: Under.

Detroit Lions (+120) vs New England Patriots (-145) / Sunday, October 09 / 1:00 PM E.T.
- Spread Lions: +3.0.
- Patriots Spread: -3.0.
- Over/Under: 46.5
The Lions and Patriots will be eager for a win next Sunday after a fourth week of difficult losses for both teams.
It wasn’t enough for Detroit to score 45 points against Seattle, and finally they ended up being defeated again because of their defensive struggles. The Lions conceded 555 total yards to the Seahawks, and the fewest they have allowed this season were 273 yards and 27 points. While Amon-Ra St. Brown is out, Jared Goff keeps impressing everyone, throwing for 378 yards and four touchdowns.
The Patriots have similarly struggled to find the winning formula, falling to 1-3 after an overtime loss to the Packers. Despite being a give-and-take game, New England’s defense conceded more than 400 yards for the first time a week before facing one of the best offenses on the circuit, Detroit. Plus, they could be without Mac Jones again, so they need Bailey Zappe and Brian Hoyer to respond to the Lions’ poor defense.
Prediction: Lions Spread.

Seattle Seahawks (+180) vs New Orleans Saints (-227) / Sunday, October 09 / 1:00 PM E.T.
- Seahawks Spread: +5.5.
- Spread Saints: -5.5.
- Over/Under: 45.5.
After very different performances last weekend, the Seahawks and Saints meet in an NFC conference showdown.
Seattle is coming off a big 48-45 win over the Lions. While their defense conceded 520 yards to one of the best offenses in the league, their offense was also up to the task with 555 total yards and a great performance by Geno Smith. The quarterback probably had one of the best games of his career by recording 320 yards with two touchdowns through the air and seven yards and one more touchdown on the ground.
New Orleans, meanwhile, continues to fall short defensively, having failed to hold any opponent to fewer than 20 points in its first four games. It could be an ideal time to react at home against Seattle, whose offense has been inconsistent this season. As for their offense, this is also a concern due to the health status of Jameis Winston, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas, all of whom missed the game against the Vikings.
Prediction: Over.

Miami Dolphins (-164) vs New York Jets (+140) / Sunday, October 09 / 1:00 PM E.T.
- Dolphins Spread: -3.0.
- Spread Jets: +3.0.
- Over/Under: 44.5.
Second place and even the top of the AFC East is on the line this Sunday when the Dolphins visit the Jets.
Life without Tua Tagovailoa looks to be tough for Miami: they were easily defeated by the Bengals in what was their first loss of the season. Teddy Bridgewater came in to replace the injured quarterback and threw for 193 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the fourth quarter, which helped Cincinnati rebound by scoring 13 points in that period.
For their part, the Jets played great defense and took advantage of the Steelers’ four turnovers, all via interference, to even their record at 2-2. This came on the back of the return of Zach Wilson at quarterback, who threw two interceptions but totaled 252 yards and a touchdown to lead his team to victory with 14 points in the fourth quarter.
Prediction: Under.

Atlanta Falcons (+300) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-370) / Sunday, October 09 / 1:00 PM E.T.
- Falcons Spread: +8.5.
- Buccaneers Spread: -8.5.
- Over/Under: 48 Points
To the surprise of many, including the Falcons themselves, this Sunday they will face the Buccaneers with a chance to take over the top spot in the NFC South.
After a big win against the Browns, Marcus Mariota and company are in a good momentum after two consecutive wins. Atlanta’s games, both wins and defeats, have all been decided by four points or fewer, and the game against Tampa Bay could be no different. Another impressive fact about this team is that Mariota has more interceptions (4) than touchdowns through the air (3 and has 2 more on the ground).
Tampa Bay has now lost two games in a row, and against the Chiefs, their excellent defense, which hadn’t allowed more than 14 points all season, was beaten by 41 points. The Falcons are a terrific opponent for the team to get back into the rhythm that is expected of them. The good news is that Tom Brady had a great performance against Kansas City with 385 yards and three touchdowns.
Prediction: Falcons spread.

Tennessee Titans (-149) vs Washington Commanders (+125) / Sunday, October 09 / 1:00 PM E.T.
- Titans Spread: -2.5.
- Commanders Spread: +2.5
- Over/Under: 42.5
This Sunday in the NFL, two teams in very different places will collide when the Titans seek their third consecutive victory against a Commanders team that has lost three straight.
Tennessee seems to have woken up after getting beaten in Week 2 by the Bills, and last weekend they won a big game over the Colts. Despite not having scored in the entire second half, the Titans turned two of Indianapolis’ three turnovers into a pair of touchdowns with an effective Ryan Tannehill, who totaled 137 yards and two touchdown passes, as well as powerhouse Derrick Henry, who appears to be back with his first 100+ yard performance of the year. (114).
The Commanders are going in a completely opposite direction: they fell to the bottom of the NFC East after their loss to Dallas. Carson Wentz tossed two interceptions for the second time this season, but Washington hasn’t tscored more than 10 points in the last two games. For the first time, the defense conceded less than 300 total yards, but again allowed more than 20 points.
Prediction: Titans Spread.

San Francisco 49ers (-278) vs Carolina Panthers (+225) / Sunday, October 09 / 4:05 PM E.T.
- 49ers Spread: -6.5.
- Panthers Spread: +6.5.
- Over/Under: 39.5.
This Sunday, two defensive teams will square off when the confident 49ers visit the desperate-for-a-win Panthers.
San Francisco is coming off a very impressive Monday Night Football win over the Rams. They have one of the best defenses in the league, whichbarely conceded 257 yards to the reigning champions, who managed to score only three field goals. Jimmy Garoppolo got the job done on offense with 239 yards and a 57-yard touchdown pass to Deebo Samuel, who finished with 115 yards receiving.
For Carolina, this won’t be an easy game. Baker Mayfield continues to have a lot of trouble getting into a rhythm for the Panthers, and will now have to contend with the 49ers’ powerful secondary. The quarterback threw two interceptions against the Cardinals, while Christian McCaffrey barely ran for 27 yards.
Prediction: 49ers Spread.

Philadelphia Eagles (-227) vs Arizona Cardinals (+185) / Sunday, October 09 / 4:25 PM E.T.
- Eagles Spread: -5.5.
- Cardinals Spread: +5.5
- Over/Under: 49.5.
The Eagles are the only undefeated team in the NFL this season and must now travel to Arizona to defend their record against the tough Cardinals.
Philadelphia is the season’s star, thanks to a combination of fast-paced attack and good defense. In each of the four games this season, the Eagles’ offense gained more than 400 total yards and never scored fewer than 24 points. Only once, in the opening week, did the defense allow more than 300 yards, and only twice did they allow less than 10 points. Against the Jaguars, they forced five turnovers.
The Cardinals want to be above .500 for the first time this season and won’t have an easy matchup despite being at home. Arizona has been intermittent in their performance, but against the Panthers they got their best defensive performance of the year by allowing just 220 total yards and for the first time holding their opponent to less than 20 points.
Prediction: Over.

Dallas Cowboys (+185) vs Los Angeles Rams (-227) / Sunday, October 09 / 4:25 PM E.T.
- Cowboys Spread: +4.5.
- Rams Spread: -4.5.
- Over/Under: 43.5
Two teams that are anticipated to compete for a great deal in the NFC meet this Sunday when the Cowboys go to Los Angeles to face the reigning champs, the Rams.
After falling in Week 1 and losing Dak Prescott, the Cowboys have won three times in a row and are second in the NFC East behind the Eagles. Dallas defeated the Commanders with authority after another great performance by its defense, the same that has yet to concede more than 20 points this year. Cooper Rush continues to do a good job at quarterback by taking advantage of his team’s good defense and totaled 223 yards with two TDs last weekend.
For their part, the Rams are coming off a tough loss after being thoroughly outplayed by the 49ers. The Los Angeles team scored only nine points, all of them via field goals, against the powerful San Francisco defense. Matthew Stafford’s terrible season continues, as he failed to score a touchdown pass for the second week in a row. The defense has also fallen short, having already given up more than 300 total yards and more than 20 points in three games.
Prediction: Over.

Cincinnati Bengals (+155) vs Baltimore Ravens (-185) / Sunday, October 09 / 8:20 PM E.T.
- Bengals Spread: +3.0.
- Ravens Spread: -3.0.
- Over/Under: 48.5
Sunday Night Football Week 5 action will be red-hot when the Bengals and Ravens square off in primetime for the top spot in the tough AFC North.
After starting the season with two three-point losses, the AFC champions have picked up the pace with two straight wins; now, they must visit Baltimore. The key will be the performance of Joe Burrow, who has 562 yards with five TDs and no interceptions in the last two games. On defense, for the second consecutive match, they allowed 15 goals or fewer.
On the Ravens’ side, defensive problems continue to wreak havoc. Just as in Week 2 against the Dolphins, Baltimore was unable to defend its lead against the Bills to fall 20-23. The offense wasn’t up to par either, as after scoring 20 points in the first half, they went blank in the second thanks in large part to Lamar Jackson’s first game with two interceptions in 2022.
Prediction: Over.

Las Vegas Raiders (+260) vs Kansas City Chiefs (-345) / Monday, October 10 / 8:15 PM E.T.
- Spread Raiders: +7.0.
- Spread Chiefs: -7.0.
- Over/Under: 51.
The NFL Week 5 finale will be a Monday Night Football game between the Raiders and Chiefs in a tough AFC West matchup.
Las Vegas is coming off its first win of the season with an easy victory over the Broncos. Although Derek Carr did not have a great outing, recording 188 yards with no touchdown passes, the Raiders destroyed Denver with 212 yards on the ground, including 144 from Josh Jacobs, who also added two touchdowns. For the first time, they didn’t allow more over 300 yards, and their 23 points allowed were the fewest so far in the 2022 championship.
For their part, the Chiefs avenged their loss to the Colts with a surprise attack against Tampa Bay’s powerful defense. Patrick Mahomes and company scored 41 points Sunday night and could feast again on the Raiders’ inconsistent defense. Overall, Kansas City recorded 417 total yards, its second-highest total this year, while the defense forced two fumbles despite Tom Brady’s 385 yards and three TDs.
Prediction: Over.
